The Punjab Blood Transfusion Authority is a regulatory body, established under the Punjab Transfusion of Safe Blood Ordinance, 1999. The objective of this Authority is to ensure supply of safe blood throughout Punjab through setting safe blood standards and ensuring that these standards are implemented across the sector. In addition to maintaining a regulatory oversight over the sector, the Authority also assumes a steering role to guide the development of blood transfusion sector by increasing awareness among general public and blood bank staff about safe blood transfusion and trainings of various cadres of staff.
