The Technical Advisory Committee of PBTA has developed minimum standards for licensing, as well as guidelines for blood establishments on achieving those standards. In addition, the committee has also developed template standard operating procedures for blood banks to adopt as such or to use as templates for development of their own SOPs. These documents are distributed to all blood banks which register with the PBTA so that they may organize their activities in accordance with the minimum standards, before a licensing inspection is carried out.
